in Rhoda’s front garden. I met her at harp concert. She grew up here on family farm at west end of island, now lives on east side. She invited us for tea but we needed to get back, said to drop in again if we could. She has such a cute grin and very twinkly eyes, like a fairy godmother. Mickey said, “I know you wish you had a better view,” and she laughed. Her front garden looks over the Sound of Mull, with what’s called the Ross of Mull – southwest end of bigger island of Mull – in the background, and the day was “brilliant” (that’s one of the words we hear over and over, along with “perfect” and “no worries!” – a very positive vocabulary).
Rhoda has visited the States, Vero Beach FL, Atlanta and Santa Fe. She told us a relative several generations back had left Scotland in early 1800s and was never heard from again. His descendants found her family about 35 years ago. they were all thrilled, and they’ve visited each other since then. She hopes to return again; we’ll give her our address in case she comes our way.
