Melrose Abbey 

Unlike other Abbey sites, this one is in the middle of a thriving town.

The original church, c. 1100s, was destroyed by Richard II’s English army in 1385. The nave would have been in the grassy area in foreground of top photo. The second photo is south transept with cemetery   beyond.
