The church burned in 1937, was rebuilt in 1938. In the cemetery is stone marking both men from local orphanage killed in WWI and those who died in 2nd WW also, names surrounding base of stone.
Just got email from Lee Sewell, said her husband Randy got photos from the stained glass of St. Margaret in this church, to study as he did his own St. Margaret window for the church of same name in Carrollton, GA (hadn’t noticed that church is St. Margaret’s, so statue above front entrance is St. Margaret also – words around doorway arch read: this is none other than the house of God). Our Apalach friends Lacey and Fran Robinson are members there, in Carrollton, not Aberlour. Sean Reid, our host at Auchnascraw Mill, teaches at the high school in Aberlour and his twin sons are in school there also. Small world…
