Sign at airport

Travel can be transformative. While on Iona, I picked up several new books, one of which is Eyes of the Heart: Photography as a Christian Contemplative Practice.  The author, Christine Valters Paintner, says, on Beauty: “Some, like Augustine, have used the word ‘beauty’ as a name for God, a name that expresses something about the divine nature. Beauty has long been considered one of the great means through which God is revealed to us. To experience beauty is to have your life enlarged – an aesthetic spirituality is about seeing the beauty of God in more and more places. We might begin to see all of life as what the Celts called a ‘thin place,’ where heaven and earth are close together.”
