My photos don’t do justice to this place. No photos allowed inside, so here’s all I have to show you. Such fascinating stone carvings inside, really amazing. Attendance jumped after chapel appeared in the DaVinci Code movie. On the walk from bus station to Chapel we passed Bill and Patti’s Wee Red Bus going out — they are taking a day tour of the Scottish Borders, Melrose Abbey and Rosslyn Chapel. Apparently they started here. Patti said their guide is adorable (we texted back and forth, me asking if they were on the “wee red bus”). We sat and listened to a 15-minute lecture in the nave of church, understood about 20% of what we heard, that lilting Scottish brogue! That bottom gargoyle animal is drainpipe. Inside are many green man carvings, as well as one lion and one angel playing bagpipes.
