This is my favorite spot in the nunnery, the seats still intact where the nuns would have sat and listened to readings, or heard instruction. They would have had a roof over their heads, though it is now open to the elements. A 13th century convent, it would have housed mostly women from wealthy families, unmarried daughters, or those who did not wish to marry, illegitimate ones also, as well as widows.
