From the air, with airport on right

You can see road just beside airport, small terminal with tower, on North Bay, and west beach to right. Beautiful views from plane.
“The airport is the only one in the world with scheduled planes landing on a sandy beach. The airport has its own international three-letter code, BRR for Barra.
There was also a British television documentary filmed on Barra, titled An Island Parish. It was filmed on several islands, with several denominations involved, Church of England, Methodist and Roman Catholic. Series five and six featured the new Roman Catholic priest in Castlebay, Barra, Father John Paul. Our hotel owner’s daughter told us of the series, and that many people come to Barra due to the idyllic picture of village life it offers ( I’m just guessing about the idyllic part!). She mentioned the filming of the blessing of the fleet, which is accompanied by music and dance and big island party afterwards. That’s what brings them, the promise of a party– a little like Apalach maybe?
