1450 years since Columba landed on Iona. From bookstore on Oban, the port city from which we take ferry to the islands.

This year is emphasized as anniversary year; I for one won’t be around to celebrate the 1500th. Historic Scotland has done much interpretive work at the abbey, timed to coincide with this anniversary. Many signs around abbey, upgrading of museum with gravestones, and adding an audio tour. We plan to put on headphones and do that this afternoon, on our last day here.
